Bonding Agents

MC-Acryl

Acrylic Bonding Agent

MC – Acryl is a liquid acrylic polymer bonding additive for use with portland cement mixtures.

Description

MC-Acryl is a liquid acrylic polymer bonding additive for use with Portland cement mixtures.

Where to use

Repair cracked, chipped or broken concrete, block and brick structures. Fill honeycomb voids in new concrete. Plaster smooth concrete surfaces. Produce plaster layers with high abrasion resistance.

Advantages

Used for bonding, repairs and plastering indoors and outdoors. Superior bond. No effect on the colour of white cement. Suitable above or below ground. Effective for continuously wetted structures. Waterproofing aid.

Technical data

Appearance Milky white liquid Solid content 35 ± 2% Specific gravity @ 25°C 1.02 g/cm³ Toxicity Non-toxic Shelf life 12 months Packaging 20 kg pails; 200 kg drums

Mixing

MC-Acryl may be used as a solution, slurry or mortar. Primer solution: dilute MC-Acryl with clean water at 1:1 or 1:2 and apply one or two coats. Bonding slurry for plaster: dilute with clean water at 1:3 or 1:4 and mix with cement, or cement and sand, to the required slurry consistency. Mortar: dilute MC-Acryl with clean water at 1:4 or 1:5 and mix with dry sand/cement mortar to form a stiff but workable mortar. Apply over a wet coat of MC-Acryl slurry or solution.

Application

Apply MC-Acryl solution or slurry by brush, avoiding air pockets. Do not use another bonding or adhesive material. Apply MC-Acryl mortar by trowel with slight pressure over a surface coated with MC-Acryl solution or slurry before that coat has set.

Surface preparation

The surface should be sound and free from dirt, grease, oil and other contaminants. Flush with water while leaving no standing water.

Cleaning

Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use.

Compatibility / safety note

MC-Acryl can be used with normal- and fast-setting Portland cement, but the source states it should not be used with expansive or air-entrained cement.

Storage & packaging

Shelf life: 12 months. Packaging: 20 kg pails and 200 kg drums.
