Description

MC-Flexicote is a high-quality water-based styrenated acrylic polymer coating with thixotropic properties. It is formulated for architectural use as a flexible decorative and protective coating.

Where to use

Interior and exterior decorative/protective coating over new and existing surfaces. Concrete, fair-faced concrete, brick, plaster and suitably prepared metal. Gypsum boards, blocks and masonry. Areas exposed to moisture.

Advantages

High flexibility with good decorative and protective properties. Thixotropic behaviour supports controlled application. Good colour retention and resistance to ultraviolet exposure and weathering. Good adhesion and weather resistance. Good resistance to wet washing and fungal growth, as stated by the source. Washable and suitable for alkaline substrates. Allows the substrate to breathe. Can be used as a crack-filling compound with suitable fillers, as stated by the source. Can function as a water-resistant coating membrane.

Surface preparation

Remove grease, oil and all surface contaminants. Remove laitance, surface porosity and unsound material by wire brushing or suitable mechanical cleaning. On previously coated surfaces, remove blistered, cracked and weak coatings; roughen glossy areas to improve intercoat adhesion. The substrate must be clean and free from contamination before coating.

Mixing & application

Stir thoroughly before use. Limited dilution with fresh water may be used only where required. Apply by brush, roller or spray in two or three coats over a properly prepared and sealed/treated substrate as appropriate.

Cleaning, storage & packaging

Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Shelf life: 12 months under normal storage conditions. Packaging: 20 kg.
